The Gauss Spectrum texture is based on a Gaussian distribution spectrum. The wavelength is used to set the center of the spectrum and the width is used to set the width of the curve. The narrower the width, the more pure and saturated the color. Figure 1 shows Gauss Spectrum node connected to the Diffuse input of an Octane material.

Guass Spectrum parameters:
Wavelength
Sets the wavelength of the output color. This is analogous to adjusting the hue.
Width
Sets the width of the spectrum, lower values result in a more saturated color.
Power
Adjust the brightness value of the color output.
