1) Do you have a Standalone License for your Plugin?
Each of our plugins require an Octane Standalone license on your computer in order to function. If you are having trouble activating your plugin license, please make sure you have an Octane Standalone license available on your OTOY account. If you do not have own a Standalone license, you can purchase one here on our online store.
2) Are your licenses compatible?
Each form of OctaneRender software (Octane Standalone and plugins like C4D, Maya, 3DS Max, etc.) requires a proper license in order to be activated. Plugins require the presence of a Standalone license that is of the same version or higher as the plugin license. For example, in order to access the 3DS Max v3 Octane Plugin, you will need an Octane Standalone v3 license and a 3DS Max v3 plugin license. Latest editions of Octane software can be found here.
Backwards Compatibility
Octane licenses have backwards compatibility - so earlier versions of Octane software can be accessed using more recent licenses. For example OctaneRender V3 software needs a V3 license to be activated but v1 software can be activated by using a V1, V2, or V3 license.
In the case where you have a license that is too low (e.g. V3 software and V2 license), you can fix this by upgrading the license to the minimum required version.
When using plugin software, please make sure to follow this guideline for both your Standalone and Plugin licenses. If you are ever unsure of what license version you have you can always check on your OTOY account.
3) Hardware
OctaneRender requires a Nvidia graphics card that supports CUDA 7.5. If you are having trouble starting OctaneRender, make sure that your drivers are up to date. You can find the download links for Windows and Linux drivers here and the download link for Mac can be found here.
