The Octane DB is OctaneRender’s asset database. The Live DB lets you access materials and groups of nodes and even whole scenes shared by the OctaneRender Community and the OctaneRender Team. The Local DB allows you to access your own locally stored Octane assets making it easier to share assets between scenes and projects..
To access the LiveDB your computer must be connected to the internet.
To open Octane LiveDB go to the OctaneRender Setup window. Right-click on a material and choose LiveDB from the drop-down menu. (figure 1)

Figure 1: Open Octane LiveDB by right-clicking on a material and choose LiveDB from the drop-down menu.
A LiveDB material can be added to a scene object by clicking on the Load button in the LiveDB Material window. (figure 2)

When using LiveDB materials, the associated texture maps will be downloaded to a local location. Typically, this location is set somewhere inside the project folder. To set the LiveDB texture map location, click the Settings button in the OctaneRender Setup window. This will open the Configuration window where the LiveDB texture map folder can be specified.
